New Missionary Candidates: The Leamans

“If the gospel be not preached, Jesus Christ is, as it were, buried. Therefore, let us stand as witnesses, and do Him this honor, when we see all the world so far out of the way; and remain steadfast in this wholesome doctrine.”

(Calvin, from his sermon, The Call to Witness, II Tim. 1:8-9)

In the past, as Leah and I lived in Brazil and observed its culture, even the Christian culture, we became burdened that Brazil needs Christ over every aspect of each life.  That is why we desire to go to Brazil. I plan, in God’s providence, to provide training in the concepts of biblical counseling, so that the Bible believing churches in northeast Brazil can understand the necessity of bringing every area of life under the direction of God’s Word. I hope that a culture of soul care can be developed among the spiritual leaders of those churches.

I also desire to preach the gospel, using sports as an opportunity to evangelize the youth of the urban center of Recife. I will work in conjunction with a Bible believing, local church, which is committed to the Solas of the Reformation, to continue the discipleship process. A school in the heart of Recife has allowed us to use their facilities for this ministry. I pray God will open doors for preaching in churches, youth camps, and at the university as well. Many other adjunct ministerial goals are also in our desire as we prepare to go to Brazil, and as God allows. Please keep us in your prayers.  “Him we proclaim.”   — Elder Doug Leaman
