The church planting work at Namhu was started in 2006 by the late Elder Soe Lwin, who went home to be with the Lord last year. Fortunately, the Lord has given us another leader, Mr. Zaw Naing, who is now continuing the work there.
Even though Mr. Zaw Naing was born into and brought up in a Christian family, he lived many years without Jesus Christ. He served in the army about 16 years. In that period of time he felt his heart so empty, having no peace and no contentment. He tried to fill up that empty heart in different ways. Sometimes he tried with worldly pleasures but without success.
With much disappointment he retired from army service. Providentially, he came to attend the Salvation Camp I conducted at Namhu in April, 2007. There he met Jesus Christ who fills his heart with the true peace and assurance. After receiving Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord, he decided to join the Yangon church so that he would get the right spiritual food and the best training. He has studied the Word of God under me for four years, proving to be a good disciple of Christ. Having seen his good progress, the Yangon BP church appointed him in March, 2012, to preach God’s Word and take care of the Lord’s sheep at Namhu.
After six years of ministry at Namhu and under Mr. Zaw Naing’s leadership, the Lord has enabled us to build a house for the church meeting and worship. I really appreciate the believers there for their great zeal and big sacrifices for the Lord’s house in spite of the small strength they have. We believe that the Lord will use this house for a meeting place with the Lord, the equipping place of the saints, and the center of spreading the gospel in that area and abroad.
In fact, Namhu is a very unique and strategic place for doing mission work because four different tribes of Myanmar (Shan, Bahma, Pa Oh, and Chin) live together in that village. Moreover there are many other unreached tribes living in the surrounding areas.
Here are some prayer requests:
- Pray that the believers in Namhu may grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ more and more.
- Pray that the church building work may finish well.
- Pray for Mr. Zaw Naing as his marriage is scheduled for November 10. He will marry a lady who is a Yangon BP church member. The wedding service will be held at the Yangon BP church. — Rev. Kima
