Nov-Dec Banner Article: Greetings from the Southerlands

Posted on Nov 26, 2018

Dear Friends,

This year has been filled with many new experiences as Casey began training to serve as Field Director next August and served on three mission teams.  Cody went off to school in Youngstown, OH; Kelsey served with Team Timothy at Trinity BPC in Weed, CA; and Lucas served on a construction team with Grace BPC in Haiti.  The rest of the family continues to grow and be stretched as well.

By far, the biggest challenge of the year, and perhaps of our lives so far, came in June when Kelly’s severe abdominal pain turned out to be a cancerous tumor.  And now, as 2018 gives way to 2019, Kelly is in the midst of three and a half months of chemotherapy treatments.

We are very grateful for all of you who have sought the Lord for Kelly and our family this year.  With all that has come our way in 2018, we end the year impressed with the goodness of the Lord whose care for our family continues to uphold us and draw our eyes and hearts to Him.  We are overwhelmed and thankful for the love and encouragement expressed by God’s people in the U.S. and around the world.  We look forward to a time when we may encourage you as you’ve so deeply encouraged us.

With love in Christ,

The Southerlands
