The Cloetes

Cloetes 2018 - edited - for web

Rev. Louis Cloete was born in Pretoria, South Africa, where his family history goes back to 1658, the early days of the Cape of Good Hope. Louis was first ordained as a minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and recently joined the Bible Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a focus on biblical counseling. Louis has had the privilege to teach biblical counseling at John Wycliffe Theological College in Johannesburg and to preach and teach at churches and conferences in Ethiopia and Uganda.

Louis and his wife, Lizette, were married in 1993 and moved to the USA during the same year. Since they both grew up in Afrikaner households, they are fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Afrikaans. Lizette is an Occupational Therapist, trained at the University of Pretoria. They have been blessed with two daughters, Suzette and Estelle.

Louis and Lizette hope to be on the field in South Africa by July, 2020.  Please pray for them; it will be a difficult transition to a country in deep turmoil.

Please pray for the Cloetes.

  • For the health and endurance of both myself and my wife, Lizette.
  • For tolerance and peace between the various nations living in South Africa.
  • That we may be granted wisdom in preparation to leave our children behind in the USA when we depart for South Africa.
